Hour of Code

In yesterday's Contemporary Media class, we started the Hour of Code, and what the Hour of Code is, it is a non-profit organization and a website that aims to encourage people, particularly school students in the United States, to learn computer science.

This exciting event was awesome to take part in, the Hour of Code helped me learn a lot more about how designing a game to do certain commands is really cool. I took more part in the flappy bird game rather than the others. There is a whole bunch of coding you could make the character do in your game.

Adobe Illustrator

We're now In our 3rd quarter Contemporary Media and we will be learning about a new Adobe program called Illustrator, Illustrator is a Vector graphics Image editor.

Adobe Illustrator s a program used by both artists and graphic designers to create vector images. These images will then be used for company logos, promotional uses or even personal work, both In print and digital form. So what is Adobe Illustrator used for? It Is typically used to create illustrations, charts, graphs, logos, diagrams, cartoons of real photographs, and more.

One of the tools I learned about is Rulers, I will explain to you what this tool Is used for, and why It Is very Important for you to use once you are editing Images.

The rulers and guides in Illustrator make our work more precise. You can move your document in any way, CS5 moved the 00 point to be in the upper-left hand corner. The art board maintains its only ruler system. The reference point proxy allows you to specify which part of the object is identified. 99% of the time you would want rulers to be on while designing in illustrator. Artwork will snap to guides.
I'm very excited to start this project, I love learning new things and A program such as this Is something I'm very Interested in.

Text Animation

For my final project for the end of quarter 2 in my Contemporary Media class, I created a Logo animation in the Adobe Program called Flash. This project didn't take me very long to get the hang of, I finished it and added my very own animations that I thought would be a good add-on to the project. I finished this text animation in about 2-3 hours tops and I'll be glad to show you my final logo.

Flash Walk Cycle Animation

This blog is on another project I have created in my Contemporary Media class. It is a stickman walk cycle animation i have made in the Adobe Program called Flash. This is my first time making an animation such as this, so I was very excited to get started. I made this project in 30 different steps, I will show you one of the steps I took below, I used several types of different tools in the program and I'll be glad to tell you about them in this blog!

I will explain to you how I made the ground move and made it look as if the stickman is walking over it. First I created a new layer named "ground," I grabbed the rectangle tool and created a rectangle that goes off the screen below the stickman. I made the ground layer into a classic tween, and I inserted a keyframe at frame 30. I then clicked on my ground (rectangle) and dragged it to the corner where it doesn't show the end. And once that's finished, you finally have your moving ground!

This project was finally completed after three long weeks of learning what tools to use, and how to add sounds to my project. I am glad to have begun a project such as this and I'm prepared to learn many more advanced animations. I was very excited to show you what i'm capable of thus far, I'm prepared to learn much more and I can not wait to show you what my next project is!

WHAT IS MOTION DESIGN?

During this second semester in my Contemporary Media class, we will be learning about 2D Motion Design, it will help us learn more about short films and cartoons. It will help improve our knowledge on Motion Design and as soon as we're finished with knowing every step of 2D Design we will move onto 3D Design.

This semester, we will be learning about 2D Motion Design with an Adobe program called Flash Player 2.0

Today's assignment includes researching and defining 2D motion design concepts. According to Wikipedia, the definition of motion design is the subset of graphic design it has the same principles in a filmmaking of a video or production context through the use of animation, or film techniques. Some examples i saw were starting off with some simple drawings and animating them to either move, talk, or just stay put while the background has something going on.

This is the movie that i will take pointers off of, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GpkLkIZeccY

This is the list of the different type of examples i found:
On Vimeo I searched up 2D animation
Also Onto Youtube

Now that I'm familiar with motion design, I'm excited to see what i can design in the near future.

Photoshop Business Card Project

This is my business card document, took me some time to finish it but i got the job done. I want to help businesses promote their dealerships involving cars, one of the main reasons i chose the car as a logo. I wanted to start off with a simple business card, but with the different tools on photoshop, that changed my whole idea on it. I had certain colors and font types, but the photoshop didn't have what I needed so I came up with new ideas.

I started off with my main colors being royal blue and metallic silver. They looked great at first but then I tested black and white and it appealed to me better. I had the black run over white and I got the Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter logos to blend in with the background. The car originally had it's plates showing and the rear lights were red but I used the paintbrush tool to cover it with a black. It took me some time to blend in the car with the white background, so I painted over the corners of the picture so it could blend in with the whole card.

To conclude, my last photoshop project was this business card, it took me a lot of time and research to get it where it is right now. I edited it precisely so none of the colors would stand out. I'm really glad to have done this project, I'm looking forward to showing people what I can do and what I can design for them. Working as a graphic and blog designer is a lot of fun, I encourage others to have this as a side job it's a very intriguing thing to do.

These are references for my color schemes which i used at first;
